Brad and Janet Thurston

A passion, a dream, and a vision to see peoples, cities and nations affected by the Gospel of Jesus Christ can become reality as evidenced in the lives of Brad and Jan Thurston.

Brad was born in the US in 1951 and raised the son of missionary parents in Beirut Lebanon. His dramatic personal encounter with Jesus Christ in 1972 birthed in him a passion to “share Jesus with the world”. His pastoral and evangelistic experiences led him to minister throughout the United States, East Africa and Europe. In 1977 Brad moved to North Yorkshire, England where he based his evangelistic ministry at Hollybush Christian Fellowship.

After a storybook romance, Brad married Janet Bell of Consett, England in 1979. Janet came to Christ as an adult.  While distributing a parish magazine, she encountered some dynamic Christians who took her to a Gospel crusade where her life was transformed by God’s love.

The Thurstons moved to Germany in 1981 where they based their church planting and international evangelistic ministries in Wesel near Düsseldorf. Their travels have since taken them to over 80 nations on 6 continents around the world.

Witnessing a growing spiritual hunger throughout the world, Brad and Janet saw the need for more workers willing to dedicate their lives to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That led them to establish Globe Europe (now Globe Mission), a German missionary sending agency in 1990. Since then Globe Mission has trained, sent and cared for some 200 missionaries who have ministered in over 55 countries around the world – changing the lives of hundreds of thousands of people through a variety of activities from church planting and leadership training to relief and development projects.

Brad has authored two books: “A Guide to Missions – Becoming a Missions-Driven Church”, and “Surprised by Mercy, A Journey of Faith”.

Brad and Janet currently continue their preaching and teaching ministries both locally and internationally. They are also available to the growing Globe Network as consultants, coaches and facilitators from their home near Wilmington, North Carolina.

The Thurstons have 5 children and 10 grandchildren.
