November 2018 – June 2021
Estera Damsa, born in Romania and raised in Vienna, is a Software Quality Control Engineer by profession.
While she studied, she organized numerous mission trips to Moldova and visited various orphanages. During her time in Aachen, she led the starter group for 6 years with the Royal Rangers.
In 2018, God called her to support the work of Metro Ministries in Costa Rica.
Her vision is to help the children and parents in the slums find their footing and identity in Jesus.
She will also care for the Metro Base as a house mother, as well as the volunteer in San Jose.
September 2021 – now
Estera Damsa has been working among the local Costa Rican community since September 2021 and has started now her own organization.
This is to offer different courses that respond to the needs of people and their families who live in marginalized areas of San Jose.
The pandemic has left many gaps in the children’s schooling. Through tutoring in mathematics, Spanish, English, etc., this is to be counteracted. Furthermore, the children should also have the opportunity to learn an instrument.
Also for the parents financial courses, child education courses, etc. are to be offered.
The goal is to motivate and inspire locals to participate in the project in order to meet people in their need together and to provide practical help.
In all of this, Jesus shall be the focus point.
Children’s programs are also held each week, in which a limited number of children can participate due to the pandemic.
Thanks to the well-known model of Metro Ministries, a hundred and more children can participate weekly in the exciting children’s programs that are open to the public.
Through these programs, as well as craft clubs, home visits, and discipleship programs, staff have a constant presence in the same slums over and over again, allowing them to build deep relationships with the children and their families.
Even though these children will continue to face the effects of poverty or the dangers of gangs, violence and abuse, the staff wants to be there for them and point them to life through the transforming love of Christ.
