At the age of 17, I entrusted my life to Jesus Christ and as a teenager I was already interested in a possible missionary service abroad.
My first contact with Peru came in 1989 through intercession during a discipleship school at “Youth with a Mission”.
Professionally, this was followed by training in physiotherapy, studies in social pedagogy, five years of work in an addiction clinic, and in-service training as a social therapist.
For several years I prayed together with a couple from my church for Peru and later accompanied them on their departure.
On a first trip in 1993 I got to know the country and its people, three more trips followed.
After God’s clear words in a dream, I was sent as a missionary to Juliaca in the southern highlands of the Andes in July 2000 by the Lutheran congregation in Darmstadt.
As part of an intercultural team, I lived and worked for 11 ½ years in the newly founded Peruvian association “Chacra de Dios” (Engl.: “Field of God”). The main focus of my work was the promotion of interdenominational unity, multiplication and leadership training, as well as a later church plant in a poor suburban neighborhood.
After completing my service with “Chacra de Dios” in early 2012, I went to Germany for a sabbatical year.
In addition to basic training in “Therapeutic Counseling” (ICL), I began my advanced training as an “Intercultural Coach” at AWM in Korntal, which has since been completed.
In March 2013, I traveled out again, this time to the city of Cajamarca in the northern Peruvian Andes (2750 a.s.l.; 350,000 p.e.).
Since then I have been working within the Centro Bíblico Cajamarca (CBC) in the areas of discipleship, staff and leadership training, teaching, working with women, pastoral care/mentoring, evangelism, project development as well as supporting various branch churches.
In addition, I am passionate about communication/networking, member care, and mobilizing the church for world missions.
Since 2015, we have also been able to welcome 1-2 “weltwärts” Volunteers to our church-affiliated Christian school IEPC “Diego Thomson Burnet”.
