Alessandro and Lydia Torres

We are Lydia and Alessandro. We have been walking through life together as a married couple since 2008, richly blessed by our intercultural roots. What connects us most deeply and drives us forward is our love for Jesus. He is the foundation of our lives, and for many years we were able to grow spiritually, find our place and play an active part in shaping our home church, the Christus Gemeinde Stuttgart.

Our calling: A heart for children

Several years ago, we sensed that God had placed a very specific mission on our hearts: to serve traumatised and vulnerable children. This inner calling has led to a period of intensive preparation. To build a solid spiritual foundation, we completed a three-year Bible college course at the “Glaubenszentrum”, focusing on children and missions, and served in our home church until we were finally able to set off for Brazil in September 2026.

There, from November until at least May 2027, we will be working at the ‘Lar Colmeia’ children’s village in Campo Bom, Porto Alegre, serving in practical, spiritual and educational capacities.

With our professions as a midwife, a special needs educator, a family carer and an educator, we bring along many years of experience working with all age groups. We are firmly convinced that, particularly in the early years of life, profound healing and corrective bonding experiences can completely transform the entire course of a person’s life. Many of these children have never been given a real chance in their lives. But we want to give precisely this chance to the children whom God specifically places in our path: a chance at a new, transformed life.
