Hello and こんにちは from Tokyo!
We are the Mueller family – Dorothea and Oliver with our three world explorers Samuel, Aaron and Yaël. We recently moved to Tokyo – the largest metropolitan area in the world, in a country that is considered the second largest unreached people group in the world. Only about 1.5% of the people in Japan are Christians and many do not know the name of Jesus. This is exactly where we see our calling: to meet people in the reality of their lives and bring them closer to God’s love.
In Tokyo, we are part of Lifehouse International Church – a lively Japanese-English church that has been growing steadily since 2002 and reaching people: students, young adults, families, expats – and anyone who is looking for meaning and community.
On the one hand, we have a wealth of experience from our time as international pastors of a church in Munich and, on the other, we are convinced that we never stop learning. That’s why we want to listen and understand particularly well – and then help God’s love to find its own expression in Japanese culture. In a different way than we have known so far, but no less powerful.
Our hearts burn especially for families and at the same time for contact in the business world. Perhaps because we are both ourselves: Family and with both feet in working life.
As part of the church, it is our heartfelt concern that faith not only takes place on Sundays, but also shapes life during the week. Right where life happens, with all its joys, sorrows and longings.With our lifestyle, we want to set an example of how faith can take shape in everyday life so that it sustains and shapes people.
