Ever since graduating from high school, I have had the privilege and great joy of gaining experience outside Germany—in Tanzania, Guatemala, and Honduras—as a volunteer and through a DTS.
After several years as a secondary school teacher, I had the opportunity to serve on a DTS with YWAM in Costa Rica in 2019.
During this time, I came to realize that God has placed within me a deep passion for sustainable development, agriculture, and community development projects.
God says of His creation, “It was very good.”
Nevertheless, malnutrition, water scarcity, famines, and disease caused by poor hygiene are a daily reality for many people. I am convinced that we can do something to address these hardships if we use and manage creation as God intended. Since 2021, I have therefore been conducting training programs for sustainable development in collaboration with Youth With a Mission.
After my journey with the training began in Costa Rica, the focus of the YWAM School of Sustainable Development is now in the village of Agabu in Malawi. There, we work as a team with local partners on the ground. I believe that a vibrant relationship with God fosters growth in every area of our lives. Therefore the positive development of a community can only be sustainable and life-changing on the basis of a relationship with God. With His help, we empower people to build every area of their lives with hope and truth. The proclamation of the Gospel always takes lace in conjunction with free workshops.
They learn how to use their God-given resources (water, soil, kitchen waste, energy sources, … ) in the way intended in order to improve the standard of living in their communities.
In doing so, it is particularly important to us that participants learn not only how to apply their knowledge but also how to pass it on.
