We, René and Mirjam Gallmann, are a married couple of teachers in our early 50s.
René is a vocational school teacher and Mirjam has been an elementary school teacher for over ten years. We have both been actively walking with God for many years.
Until 2022, our lives were on an even keel; we were both professionally and in the church and volunteered in various areas.
Our focus was on pastoral care and “hearing” prayer.
In fact, it came as a surprise to us that our regular lives were about to change.
We would love to take you with us on our journey of how we received the call of God:
At the beginning of 2022, there was a sermon series in our church entitled “Make room” on Isaiah 54:2: “Make wide the space of your tent and spread out the covers of your dwelling place; do not spare! Stretch out your ropes and set your stakes fast!”
During this sermon series, our sincere prayer was: “Lord, what does it mean for us personally to make room?”
At the same time, a line from the hymn “Create space” moved us in a special way, namely in a special way; namely “I make room for you, do whatever you want, Lord”.
In our prayer process around “making room”, we had the inner impression that God was answering us: “Sell your house and use the proceeds to build a place of refuge.”
After it became clear that this place should be abroad, we took the next steps.
After a first trip to Costa Rica in 2022, we had the impression that doors were opening in this country.
In order to create the necessary space for all further preparations for our departure, we quit our jobs at the end of the school year. For Mirjam, this meant giving up her civil servant status.
Immediately after the termination, Mirjam’s mother suffered a serious heart attack and became in need of care. As a result, all preparations were put on hold for a long time.
We are still at the very beginning and the next step will go to Costa Rica for about six months in this fall. During this time, we want to attend a language school, get to know the culture and make new contacts.
We are full of joyful anticipation to see what gifts God has in store for us in the future.
God has laid it on our hearts to create space for full-time leaders in the Kingdom of God (e.g. missionaries, pastors, etc.) who want to take some time out.
We therefore want to establish a retreat center for international workers in the Kingdom of God. At this place there is room for a personal time-out, for an encounter with God, encouragement and the development of new perspectives. Through reflection, new perspectives can be discovered for oneself or the ministry. Accompanying discussions and “hearing” prayer are offered on request.
It is a matter close to our hearts that visitors can experience a time of regeneration, recover and spiritually recharge themselves so that they can carry out their ministry again refreshed, with new strength and courage after their stay.
May Jesus Christ, our living hope, make this recharging possible in his infinite love and grace!
