We are an intercultural (Khmer and German) couple who have been involved full-time with “Youth with a Mission” in Cambodia since 2018.
Kimleang grew up in a simple Buddhist family and joined the “Mighty Girls” program of the Christian-based organization SALT Academy as a teenager.
Through soccer development, she became part of the Cambodian women’s national team in 2012 and traveled to Asia and Europe for training and events.
In 2018, SALT became part of YWAM Cambodia, and Kimleang also became a staff member. Through many testimonies and prayer experiences, she decided to be the first in her family to give her life to Jesus.
This was followed by the discipleship school and the leadership school.
David grew up in Germany and felt a calling to missions at an early age.
After graduating high school, he attended the Discipleship Training School, which took him to Cambodia and Nepal.
During his stay in Cambodia, he experienced a clear calling from God for this country in times of prayer and through prophetic impressions.
In 2018, at 19, he moved to Cambodia permanently and took over managing the SALT Academy soccer project with two others.
What was initially planned as a two-year assignment developed into a long-term calling.
We got married in 2021 😄
Since then, we have been serving together in Cambodia. In 2024/25, we completed a nine-month Bible school (School of Biblical Studies), which rooted us deeper in the Word of God and strengthened us for our ministry.

We are part of “Youth with a Mission” Cambodia, with over 250 employees from many nations. Our vision is to see the entire nation turn to Jesus Christ within one generation. Currently, about 3.5% of the population is Christian, but there is a movement in the country.
Kimleang runs the office operations at our campus in Battambang, teaches Bible classes, disciples teenagers, and works in the slum project.
David is a teacher at the Bible school, a mentor for young leaders, and a fitness coach at the campus gym. Together, we invest in evangelism, training, and humanitarian aid in villages, cities, and among young people.
Cambodia’s young generation (over 80% are under 30) has the potential to step out of their country’s difficult past (Khmer Rouge) and bring hope. We believe that God wants to use this generation to change Cambodia.
We have seen a lot of fruit in Cambodia in recent years. The focus of local churches and mission organizations has increasingly turned to large-scale evangelism. Last year, churches and ministries in our city joined together and preached the gospel to 15,000 people over three days. Thousands gave their lives to Jesus! Similar events are planned in other provinces in the coming years. We are grateful to be part of what God is doing in Cambodia.
